Functional, Evidence Based Play Therapy Mobile and ClinicEmma has a Bachelor of Applied Science & Masters of Physiotherapy Practise from La Trobe University. She is very passionate about supporting infants and children in reaching their full potential. Emma has extensive experience working with infants and children with an array of conditions within the NDIS, Medicare system, with the Department of Education at schools, and the Department of Health.
Emma works with children with orthopedic conditions such as hip dysplasia, torticollis, plagiocephaly, scoliosis, pre and post surgery; neurological conditions including traumatic brain injuries, strokes, cerebral palsy, MS, muscular dystrophies; genetic conditions such as Down Syndrome, Turners Syndrome and other chromosomal difference; heart and lung conditions including cystic fibrosis or congenital heart defects; chronic pain, those with neurodiversities and premature bubs or those diagnosed with Global Developmental Delays.
Emma has in-depth knowledge of equipment prescription including walkers, standers, wheelchairs, activity seats, complex seating systems, 24 hour positioning, commodes, hoists and more.
Emma is trained in Dynamic Movement Intervention Therapy, Gait Retraining and Rehabilitation, complex equipment prescription and has a special interest in working with infants and toddlers. She is able to help provide guidance on pelvic floor control and coordination for children with continence concerns as well. She strongly believes in using evidence based, functional therapy to support development and is always attending courses and updating her knowledge.
For older children and teens, Emma works with them to develop meaningful goals to work towards building strength, coordination, posture and positioning, balance, mobility, muscle range and participation in sports or play with peers, to ensure they feel confident and capable within their bodies. Helping kids and teens to build their self-efficacy and confidence in their abilities will also help them in developing relationships, resilience, perseverance and a greater sense of self.
