Early language, literacy, stuttering, play, social communication, AAC.Empowering Growth Speech Pathology is a mobile Speech Pathology practice that aims to provide high-quality, evidence based speech pathology intervention to children aged 12 months - 16 years.
My areas of specialty include early language, Complex Communication Needs (CCN), Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), literacy (reading/writing), fluency, articulation, play and social - emotional communication. I have experience supporting children with developmental/intellectual delays and diagnoses of an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
I am trained in programs including Hanen More Than Words, DIR Floortime 201, Orofacial Myology, Sounds Write phonics. I enjoy learning upskilling myself in areas I already practice in by learning new things and reading new research. I am also a very strong advocate for the use of AAC systems (LAMP Words for Life, PODD, Proloquo2Go) to support the growth of children's communication skills.
I enjoy working with parents and empowering them to understand their children's communication profiles. It is my passion to share my knowledge with parents, educators and other people involved in children's care and learning so that they can implement the strategies across environments. This supports all children to acquire new skills and generalise these across settings.
There's nothing better in this world than building strong and meaningful connections with a child to support them to achieve their full potential! It is when a child is having fun with us that they can trust us and work towards reaching their developmental milestones and achieving the "hard" things. This is the part that I love the most as a Speech Pathologist (and every day it puts a big smile on my face to know that I'm helping parents and carers achieve a deep and meaningful connection with their child, too!)
