About Gold Coast Disability and Youth

ABOUT US

Gold Coast Disability and Youth is a disability support service providing individual support, group programs, SLES and Support Coordination. We specialise in high functioning ASD teens and young adults. Our support focuses in building psycho-social skills.

Individual Support

GCDAY provides individual support and mentoring for youths and young adults on the Autism Spectrum. Choosing a support worker to assist can mean in home or in the community. Our young and passionate team of support workers allows us to pair you with someone who shares common interests

School Leavers Employment Support (2 years after leaving school)

GCDAY offers individual SLES programs to assist school leavers to gain employment upon finishing secondary school. Gold Coast Disability and Youth’s SLES program aims to help clients transition smoothly from school to the work force. The program is customized to the individual and includes activities such as: interest identification, goal setting and employment connection.

Personal Training (All ages)

Our qualified person trainer runs hour long sessions designed to individual needs. The trainer will work with the individual to identify achievable fitness and health goals. Josh has experience working with a variety of disabilities and has a strong interest in Zooku (salsa dancing).

Dungeons and Dragons (tweens, mid-teens, young adults)

Dungeons and Dragons is a Group collaborative story telling game whereby the players work together to complete goals within a defined framework. D&D functions within a creative environment and involves team building skills, sharing ideas, and receiving direct real time feedback. There are levels within the game that explore moral concepts.

Fitness Engagement (all ages)

A program designed for clients to experience a range of different fitness activities including team sports, bush trail walks, beach swimming and gym equipment. Fitness Engagement focuses on building an understanding of basic fitness principles.

Arts/Craft (10-16 years)

This program is designed to cater for the creative, art loving person. Our Arts and Craft group explores a range of activities from basic sewing to weaving and clay modelling. The opportunities are endless. If you are okay with getting your hands dirty and enjoy all things arts and craft, this is the group for you.

Meal Preparation (17 and over)

We aim to make individual and family life better by building the principle skill of cooking. In this program we learn to cook a range of basic, nutritious, and delicious meals. The participants leave each week with a visual representation of their independence in the form of food. We provide individual as well as group meal prep sessions for those on a budget.

Sword Fighting (13 and over)

GCDAY works in conjunction with Sword Fighter Gold Coast to teach the art of Historical Fencing: a form of European martial arts. The participants assist each other and enjoy being part of a fun, physical program where they can develop their fitness and social skills.
